On a Symantec Encryption Management Server a network interface may not be able to start and the IP address to the NIC may not bind properly. Upon attempting to restart the network service, the following message appears:
ipcalc: bad netmask
bind: Cannot assign requested address
Error: any valid prefix is expected rather than "x.x.x.x/"
If you notice, the subnet mask has an error in the first octet of "222", which is an invalid value for a subnet mask. In order to correct this, change the subnet mask in System\Network to the correct subnet mask and save. If you are unable to do this, please contact Symantec support for assistance.
