OPS/MVS Event Management & Automation

Issue/Introduction

We just started OPSBCPII on some LPARS and are seeing HWS*  msgs in OPSLOG. If we don’t want to see these messages in OPSLOG, but still utilize OPSBCPII is that still possible?

HWSSECUR SECURITY EVENT CPC IBM390PS.xxxx ID=nnnn The current processing weight value for the GP CPs in partition LPARxx    chan

Environment

Release : 13.5

Component : OPS/MVS BCPII INTERFACE

Resolution

Setting BYPASSENABLEEVENTS to YES in your OPIICMDS member will disable event registration and prevent the Hardware Events from being generated.

The following recommendation should be noted:

HWS hardware events should only be received and automated by one CA OPS/MVS region in the hardware (HMC) network to avoid duplicate automation of events. One LPAR can be used to monitor the events in the entire network. If that is not sufficient then perhaps 2. Currently, OPSBCPii does not have the ability to filter by CPC or LPAR.
