View Output Management Web Viewer

Issue/Introduction

After about 30 minutes of browsing the report the user get logged out. The user additionally says that the report the look through is over 10,000 lines long. They must search through multiple section of the report to do they’re job throughout the day. What I’m assuming is happening is that the user loads a large portion of the report upfront while searching, and then because the report has already been loaded no additional calls get made. Some kind of keep alive signal to view while browsing would be helpful.

Environment

Release : 14.0

Component : Output Management Web Viewer

Resolution

When you are viewing a report using the native view only a portion of the report is loaded – as the user scrolls around additional parts of the report are loaded.  The timer is reset each time a call is made to retrieve additional data.  If the user just scrolls around in the area that has already been loaded then no calls are made and the possibility exists the user could get timed out.  If the user is timed out, they will be prompted to re-enter their credentials and then they can continue scrolling
At present, the 30 minute timeout value is hard coded in Web Viewer. A new parameter to control it will be added to Web Viewer 14, but there are many other changes/improvements already in the pipeline so it is not planned or to be expected in the near future.

The guid timeout value for when a user is logged on but then performs no action is a static value currently set for an hour.
