Issue/Introduction

Intermittently JMeter performance tests may fail and produce no data:

 

The bzt.log contains following error, not long after the start of the test:

[2021-03-23 08:21:26,583 INFO Engine] Shutting down...
[2021-03-23 08:21:26,583 DEBUG Engine] Current stop reason: Failed to start X on display ":1001" (xdpyinfo check failed).

Cause

When configuring the test, it is possible to select what JMeter version should be used to run the test. By default it is set to Auto Detect:

This may result in the test running with ancient JMeter versions (4.0 or lower).

Resolution

Change the test configuration and select a JMeter version 5.3 or higher:

Additional Information

The problem as described above is not reproducible but happens only every now and then. 

Setting the JMeter version seems to have resolved it permanently.
