Issue/Introduction

We have several email reports that are not being delivered from the daily scheduler.

Cause

We are seeing the following in the Scheduler log:

 OAExec. Schedule: Every Day At 07:00
 OAExec. Host: ZSYS
 OAExec. • 501 5.5.4 Invalid domain name
 OAExec. • 501 5.5.4 Invalid domain name
• 501 5.5.4 Invalid domain name
 OAExec. • 501 5.5.4 Invalid domain name
• 501 5.5.4 Invalid domain name
• Unable to resolve hostname youremail.emailserver.com
OAExec. Finished.

Environment

Release : 14.0

Component : CA Vantage Storage Resource Manager

Resolution

Vantage is packaging up the data and is being sent to your local mail server for delivery.

The in-house server is not processing the request to process. 

If you do a Google search for ‘501 5.5.4 Invalid domain name’, you’ll find that this a message coming back from the mail server.

We are not sure if this a performance issue or an incorrect set up within the server profile.

Your system group should be able to see an error within the log from youremail.server.com from the date/time frame of the error.

Basically, Vantage is sending the email to the server and the return code we are getting back is that the email server could not resolve the address. When you search the error message, most of the issues were with a config file within the email profile.
