Issue/Introduction

Is a CA Dynamic Capacity Intelligence (DCI) LMP key (a license key) required for the LPARs where only a DCI Agent (not the Controller) is running?

Resolution

After DCI 2.0 PTF LU10524 is applied, the DCI LMP key is required also on the LPARs where the DCI Agents are running.

Additional Information

DCI 2.0 PTF LU10524 is an enhancement that allows DCI to use the Common Components and Services (CCS) Feature Registration Service (FRS) to register itself with the IBM Function Registry for z/OS.

FRS enables you to have more insights of: 

• The running Broadcom mainframe products that have been registered through the FRS
• The features of those products, include:
  • The feature state (enabled or disabled)
  • How often the feature was used (if the product calculates feature usage)
• The maintenance levels of those products
