Disk Backup and Restore - MVS

Issue/Introduction

During executions of an Archive/Backup jobs the following messages are displayed:

ADSTH001 0623 MAIN TAPE WRITE ERROR and ADSTH001 0623 COPY TAPE WRITE ERROR and all these files are not archived/backed up.

Environment

Release : 12.5

Component : CA Disk Backup and Restore

Resolution

2659 RECORD LENGTH EXCEEDED - DSN (ddd)

Reason:

A spanned record in data set (ddd) exceeded the maximum CA Disk buffer size as set by sysparm IOMAXREC. Specify IOMAXREC with a value equal to the size of the largest spanned record and rerun the job.

IOMAXREC - This sysparm specifies the maximum logical record size for data sets processed by CA Disk . The default value is 65,000 bytes. The maximum value for this sysparm is 999,999 bytes. To save real storage, this sysparm should be set to the lowest value possible that still allows normal CA Disk  processing. Not available when using the DFSMSdss Data Mover interface.

The value of the IOMAXREC should be greater than the MAX LRECL as per a LISTCAT of the concerned data set named in message 0394:
ADSVS067 2545 GET: WORK AREA NOT LARGE ENOUGH FOR DATA RECORD
ADSVS060 0394 dsname WAS NOT ARCHIVED DUE TO PREVIOUS ERROR
