"URL Reputation protection is not functioning correctly due to an internal configuration error" message on Symantec Endpoint Protection GUI after upgrade to 14.3 RU1 and later
Environment
Release: SEP 14.3RU1 and later
Component: IPS(URL Reputation)
Cause
"Allow Insight Lookup for threat detection" option is not enabled.
Resolution
Browse into your IPS policy and click the icon that shows an open lock so it is closed.
Save the changes. Do this for all IPS policies assigned to clients seeing this issue. It should stop the message from appearing.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, other steps to resolve the issue:
Select the Group where the affected client is reporting in SEPM
Go to "External communication settings > Submissions"
Enable "Allow Insight Lookup for threat detection"
After the policy update on the client, the Warning should disappear.
