Issue/Introduction
The following OPEN ERROR can be encountered on VSAM managed work files on VSE:-
FB 0119 4228I FILE SYS006 OPEN ERROR X'42'(066) CAT=WKCATLG
(OPNVC--1) DTF WITH INCOMPATIBLE FILE CHARACTERISTICS IN CATALOG
Environment
Release: All supported releases.
Component: Culprit.
Cause
Incorrect value for profile parameter BT.
Resolution
This error occurs most likely because the user has upgraded and has inadvertently changed to a different value for profile parameter BT.
Typically, the user was using a value other than 1 and has forgotten to implement that value in the new release and is now using the default of 1.
BT stands for blocks per track. If the BT value is too low, Culprit will generate a blocksize which is too large for the file.
