SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

CA SYSVIEW for DB2 Data Collector working with Remote Access Facility (RAF) in a Data Sharing environment.

When you select option "5  Active Threads" to display the threads on any of the remote DB2 Subsystems, the session is locked and there is no answer from the remote DB2 Subsystem to display the active threads.

There is no problem in the Data Collector when you select option "5  Active Threads" to display the threads in the local DB2 Subsystem.

Environment

Release : 20.0

Component : CA SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2 for z/OS

Resolution

The RUSIZE value in the VTAM MODETAB was 0.

Problem was fixed after the RAF-RUSIZE=4096 parameter was updated in IDDCPARM member and the Data Collector was recycled.

The sample VTAM definitions in the 'CA SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2' manual include MODETAB and DLOGMOD parameters of the APPL definition, which supply the default RUSIZE values. If these parameters are missed then you will find these kind of problem in RAF connections. You may want to review and correct these definitions, since the strange VTAM errors that may occur in their absence can be tricky to diagnose.
