Issue/Introduction

Description:

Getting Error "CONNECTION DEAD" when trying to connect to Oracle database 11.2 using DataDirect Oracle Wire Protocol ODBC 6.00.25.

<Please see attached file for image>

Figure 1

Same connection problem between IDM and the Oracle Database.

But, SQLPlus or Oracle SQL Developer will connect to the same database successfully.

Solution:

SQL.log shows "Connection Dead" error is logged when ODBC will report connection timed out.

When Oracle database is configured for high level of security with AES encryption, DataDirect Driver fails to make the connection and times out.

Disable the AES encryption on database and restart the Oracle instance then try connecting to database using ODBC again. You will get success.
