What are the recommended steps for upgrading the Linux operating system for our Spectrum servers?

Environment

All Supported Versions DX NetOps Spectrum releases

Cause

Environmental requirements need to maintain OS at current versions.

Resolution

Follow these recommended steps for the best chance of success.

1. Backup all of the Spectrum databases.
2. Shutdown all of the Spectrum processes.
3. Take a snapshot of the system.
4. Proceed with the OS upgrade.
5. Start all of the Spectrum processes.

Perform automatic disk backups, OS backups, and OS updates only after gracefully shutting down all Spectrum processes.
