CA Performance Management Network Observability

Issue/Introduction

When trying to move a Data Collector (DC) from the Default Tenant to a new custom Tenant it fails with the following error.

The custom Tenant exists, the IP Domain exists under the Default Tenant, but the DC reassignment fails with the error.

The data collector was successfully sent a re-assignment message but we could not confirm re-assignment. Please check the appropriate log files.

Checking the (default path) /opt/IMDataCollector/apache-karaf-<version>/etc/com.ca.im.dm.core.collector.cfg file it still shows the currently assigned Default Tenant and custom IP Domain.

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

The custom Tenant does not have an IP Domain created in it.

When selecting the new Tenant, if no IP Domains exist under it the IP Domain field should not show Domains that are from other Tenants.

Resolution

This will be resolved with defect ID DE165596.

To resolve the problem an IP Domain should be create under the custom Tenant. Then reassign the DC after ensuring it's no longer managing any discovered devices.

This is being tracked through defect ID DE165596 which is yet to have an ETA for a fix release set. This article will be updated when a release ETA is made available from engineering. This is current as of January 2025. The defect will ensure, when moving DC and choosing a Tenant with no IP Domains, the IP Domain field will reflect the lack of configured domains.
