'Device encountered a service error' showing on the System health status of SEDR Appliance

Issue/Introduction

After a deployment of Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response 4.4 or earlier, the appliance may show an error status regarding a service failure.

Cause

This is caused by a service restart when new engine content is downloaded.

Environment

Resolution

This error should go away as soon as new content is updated. If it persists for more than 24 hours, contact Broadcom technical support.
