Issue/Introduction

According to the following URL, Service Point is able to show announcements. How do we get the announcements widget and install it?

Environment

Release : 17.3

Component : CA Service Management - Service Desk Manager

Resolution

Announcements functionality is provided out of box in Service Point and should not require any changes to configure from a default configuration.

The announcements that are displayed in Service Point come from CA Service Desk.  The following example describes the overall process:

  • An end user logs into CA Service Desk Manager, then goes into File -> New Announcement in the Service Desk tab.

  • An Announcement is crafted as shown below.  All fields are left at default, apart from the Announcement text:

  • The Announcement is saved.  Refreshing the SDM Web UI shows us that the announcement is visible.

  • In Service Point, anyone who logs in or is already logged in, will see the announcement displayed as such:

Additional Information

The given SDM announcement should not be set to Internal as Service Point masks these entries.   If the announcements are not appearing, one may also need to rebuild the Search Server index.

For instructions to rebuild the index, please see:
