How do I upgrade from Datacom/AD 10.0/11.0/12.0 to Datacom/AD 15.1?

The upgrade procedure changed in Datacom/AD 15.1 and is now called an Active MUF upgrade and is documented in section How to Perform an Active MUF Upgrade

However, the new Active MUF Upgrade process can only be performed from the previously supported release of Datacom/AD 14.0. 

To upgrade from releases prior to 14.0 you need to use the same upgrade method as was used in prior releases, the migrate/porting process. 

You can upgrade directly from Datacom/AD 10.0/11.0/12.0 to Datacom/AD 15.1 using the migrate/porting process.

The procedure to upgrade to Datacom/AD 15.1 involves installing the software using SMP/E, then running the jobs to create a new Datacom/AD 15.1 MUF. 
After this you port the CA product databases. As these members are not copied during installation, you will need to manually copy AXPOR01 or AXPOR02 from the CAAXSAMP library to your INSTJCL  after you have run configuration job AXCUS00.

Below is a summary of jobs you need to run to install the new 15.1 MUF and do the upgrade. Steps 1 - 4 can be run while the current Datacom/AD MUF and CA using products are running.

Install the Datacom/AD 15.1 Software. You do this by running these jobs from the SAMPJCL:

As indicated in the RI88629 - *README: CA DATACOM/AD 15.1 FOR Z/OS, All published solutions for CA Datacom/AD 15.1 should be applied after the SMP/E install and before executing the configuration steps. Go to https://support.broadcom.com to download 15.1 solutions. Apply these solutions before you create each MUF's INSTJCL job AXCUS00 that will be used to migrate/port existing MUF environments or create new Datacom/AD MUF environments.

Run member AXCUS00 in CAAXSAMP to create the INSTJCL PDS. Once this is done, copy the migrate/porting member AXPOR01 or AXPOR02 from the CAAXSAMP library to your INSTJCL.

Create a new 15.1 Datacom/AD MUF by running these jobs from the INSTJCL:

You will need to run these jobs to create and customize each new Datacom/AD MUF as required for each of your CA product(s) using Datacom/AD. If installing additional MUFs in the same LPAR there is no need to run AXAPFADD and AXRIM01 again.

Note that job AXRIM01 installs the Program Call (PC) routines that will be active until the next IPL. In order to load these routines with each IPL, add the input from AXRIM01 RIMPC.PARMLIB to your CAS9 PARMLIB file.

         Note: AXCUSNEW will prepare a new 15.1 CUSLIB to be used by the MUF that is being upgraded. It has fewer members than prior releases.

         Note: Use the Datacom/AD 15.1 provided startup options (AXDATIN1 and AXDATIN2) to start with since these are the recommended and certified default specifications.
                  Then customize the 15.1 AXDATIN1 if needed. Do not use your existing 10,0 11.0, or 12.0 MUF startup SYSIN parameters.

Run the verification job: AXIVP01

Stop the CA using product but keep the previous release MUF active.  

Migrate the using product database to the new MUF by running job AXPOR01 for AD 12.0 or AXPOR02 for AD 10.0/11.0. 
This JOB needs to be run for each CA using product DATABASE that is being migrated to THE NEW Version 15.1 MUF." 

Update your CA using product JCL and change the STEPLIB and JCL procedures to point to the new Datacom/AD 15.1 CUSLIB and CAAXLOAD datasets and restart it.
