CA-Easytrieve support for MVS SET TIMEZONE command

Issue/Introduction

When the twice yearly Daylight Savings time change occurs, IPLing the system handled the time change. The SET TIMEZONE command, introduced by IBM, will now be employed to handle the start of Daylight Savings Time. Does CA-Easytrieve support this process and are there any considerations regarding use of this command?

Resolution

The Set TIMEZONE command will alter the TOD for z/OS.

It has been verified that CA-Easytrieve just uses the TOD services provided by z/OS to obtain the current local time. Testing also indicates the SET TIMEZONE will alter the TOD for z/OS.

 The TOD is correctly updated.
