Oracle 19c Client upgrade not installing due to system error

Issue/Introduction

You are trying to upgrade the Oracle client from 12c to 19c and are getting the following error:

INS-32027 The Oracle_home environment variable is currently set and this value is not same as the specified path for software location. This may impact the proper configuration of software.

 

Cause

The Oracle_HOME path configuration in the Windows Environment variable is pointing to a different directory than the path for the 19c Oracle client install.

Resolution

Update the Oracle_HOME path configuration in the Windows Environment variable to point to the correct directory for the Oracle 19c client.
