Shortening Length of UR1 Resource By 1 Character In Top Secret

Issue/Introduction

The current ownership for a UR1 resource used with Changeman 8.2 is 'CMNA.'. When trying to change this to CMNA using:

TSS ADD(dept) UR1(CMNA)

the following error results:

TSS0351E  SPECIFY "UNDERCUT" TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP   
TSS0301I  ADD      FUNCTION FAILED, RETURN CODE =  8 

What affect will undercut have on the ownership since it is already owned at 5 positions? The UR1 resource has the default attributes.

Resolution

If you UNDERCUT the ownership from UR1(CMNA.) to UR1(CMNA), everything that starts with CMNA will be protected. For example, CMNABCD, CMNA1234, etc. 

With UR1(CMNA.) owned, only things that start with CMNA. will be protected. For example, CMNA.BCD, CMNA.123, etc, but not CMNABCD, CMNA1234, etc. Note the maximum length of a permit for UR1 is 8 characters.
