Issue/Introduction

Configured IOSTAT probe to monitor iostat for disk but it is not working. Also not working with CDM. We are not getting any alerts related to iostat.

Environment

Release : 20.3

Component : UIM - CDM WITH IOSTAT

Resolution

Currently, its not enough to do all of the configuration/finish the configuration and see expected results (alarms) from within IM.

In testing, I logged in to the web Admin Console, and noticed that although everything was configured in IM via Raw Configure, the devices, e.g., sda and scd0), did not show as Active so I first had to select (check) the Device Configuration->'Active' box.

Then I enabled some alarms, High and Low Thresholds and set them to low values to ensure I'd get some alarms during testing.

One thing I noticed was although I now get alarms, the admin console Alarms column only displays a dash q, and the alarm configuration column never shows as 'On' or 'Off' like the QOS does when you enable it.

In any case, via the Admin Console, once you set the device to 'Active' and enable High/Low thresholds for the device, you will see the alarms generated.

Here is an example from Lab testing.
