Issue/Introduction

How can I configure the cdm probe to show the top processes that are consuming the most CPU via MCS enhanced profile/templates?

This option is available when configuring cdm via IM, but I didn't see it using MCS.

Environment

  • Release: 20.4 CU7 and prior
  • Component: UIM - MON_CONFIG_SERVICE_TEMPLATES

Resolution

MCS Enhanced profile prior to UIM 20.4 CU8 does not support "to show the N top processes that are consuming the most CPU" as Alarm Policy does not have capability to provide any such kind of information.

In UIM 20.4CU8 with the new MCS and CDM updates this is now possible.

Additional Information

The following information applies to UIM 20.4CU7 and prior only:

Few fields are not supported in the Setup CDM Enhanced template

Below are the few fields that are not supported in the Setup CDM Enhanced template, but are supported in the legacy template. Enabling these can have impact on the Monitoring data.

  • General Alarm and QOS Metrics Settings -> Send Alarm on Each Sample

If you enable this field, there is no impact on the Monitoring data.

  • General Settings for CPU Monitoring -> Set QoS Target as Total

If you enable this field, you cannot see some QoS messages for the CPU monitoring.

  • General Settings for CPU Monitoring -> Number of Top CPU-consuming Processes in Alarm

If you enable this field, there is no impact on the Monitoring data.

  • General Settings for Memory Monitoring -> Set QoS Target as Memory

If you enable this field, you cannot see some QoS messages for the Memory monitoring.
