Issue/Introduction

With the release of DX NetOps 20.2.6, CAPM has a capability with which the DA can be configured to send data to a Kafka bus.

This can be used to gather how much data each metric in CAPC is collecting in order to size the system appropriately.

Environment

DX NetOps CAPM 20.2 or later

Resolution

  1. Create the file:

    touch /opt/IMDataAggregator/apache-karaf-2.4.3/etc/com.ca.im.dm.core.aggregator.loader.bulk.impl.cfg

  2. and add the following line to it:

    backupOnComplete=true

  3. This will create back .dto files per metric family that are sent to the Vertica DB to load. Let this run for 10-15 minutes and it will give you how much CAPM loads per metric family for the time period it is running. Once done change the above line to:

    backupOnComplete=false

  4. All the files that have been written to the Vertica database will be in the directory:

    /opt/IMDataAggregator/data/performance-spool/backup
