Common Services COMMON SERVICES FOR Z/OS

Issue/Introduction

When installing CA Common Services r15.0, even if the CHECK parameter is commented out for the ACCEPT job (AW040ACB), the GIM30206E message is output and RC=12.

<Message excerpts>
GIM30206E ** ACCEPT PROCESSING FAILED FOR SYSMOD CAS9F00. HOLD REASON IDS WERE NOT RESOLVED.
GIM35901I    ERROR HOLD AC12873 WAS NOT RESOLVED.
GIM35901I    ERROR HOLD BC12873 WAS NOT RESOLVED.
GIM37001S ** ACCEPT PROCESSING STOPPED BECAUSE FUNCTION SYSMOD CAS9F00 FAILED.

Environment

Release : r15.0
Component: CA Common Services for z/OS
OS : z/OS

Cause

  • If the installation ACCEPT process does not run correctly, it is possible that the previous process did not complete correctly for some reason.
For example, the previous APPLY process may not have been completed for some reason, which may have affected the subsequent ACCEPT process.

  • If the APPLY process completed successfully, then another possible cause is that the ERROR HOLDDATA was downloaded and received into the SMP/E environment after the APPLY was run but prior to running the ACCEPT.

The ERROR and FIXCAT HOLDDATA is downloaded and received using SAMPJCL member AW060RCH.

Resolution

  • If it is true that the ERROR and FIXCAT HOLDDATA was downloaded and received prior to the ACCEPT,
    • then the ACCEPT job output should contain a HOLD REASON REPORT (SMPHRPT) detailing the potential resolving sysmod(s)
    • install the resolving sysmods and rerun ACCEPT including the resolving sysmods OR specify BYPASS(HOLDERROR) to allow ACCEPT to run and install resolving sysmods afterwards.

  • If problem cannot be easily identified, it is recommended to delete all data sets once, leaving prefix.SAMPJCL, and then redo the installation process from AW000ALL to AW040ACB's ACCEPT process.
