The FDRPAS utility can be used for moving the TMC and AUDIT files to the new devices ?Or should follow the CA1 specific recommendation as follows: "The TMC data set should not be moved to another DASD unit while tape activity is being performed or CA 1 batch or online functions are in use" ?
Release : 14.0
Component : CA 1 Tape Management
CA- Broadcom always advised that the TMC and AUDIT files be allocated with DSORG=PSU. To prevent that these files be moved during the tape activity or CA1 daily batch running.
On the following link can be found all steps about how the TMC and AUDIT file should be moved to the new disks:
Moving AUDIT and TMC files on a new device
The simplest way to move a TMC is by using the TMSXTEND utility, allocating the new TMC on the desired volume. The tape activity don't need to be stopped.
Answer received from FDR:
Since FDRPAS will swap the device address to the new device, there is NO need to shutdown CA-1, stop tape processing, or even run TMSINIT when FDRPAS is finished; It will all be transparent.
While the UCB address changes, the actual UCB address (the address of the UCB control block) does NOT change. It is the address of the UCB control block that is used by CA-1, and not the external UCB address.
