Need details to setup monitoring within the iDash database

Issue/Introduction

We are trying to setup monitoring on the database where we need to get alerted if a query is blocking the database or a table for longer than usual time. I want to know what would be an ideal time period of monitoring as I dont want alerts for any regular activity on the database.

Resolution

The DBA should be able to get you the average transaction time from your DB. We suggest going ~5 times that.

We have no way of knowing how the DB performs, so we cannot answer the question relative to "usual time".

If you just want a number from us,  we would say 5 or 10 minutes. That should be way longer than our standard

transactions require while allowing for a large report to run.
