Component : CA 1 Tape Management

Resolution

When a tape is scratched and the real-time robotic interface is enabled,CA1 makes the call AFTER the TMC has been updated. CA1 makes a single call (using the IBM Macro CBRXLCS) to call OAM to tell them that a tape has been changed to scratch status.

Then, OAM is responsible for updating their 2 databases. The Library Manager (which is the database down in the TS7700 itself) and the VOLCAT/TCDB up on z/OS. Now, the order of those 2 databases being updated and any possible delay in updating them is 100% controlled by OAM itself.

The SMF61, SMF65 and SMF66 record types for the time-period for which the error occurred should be saved. IBM has an internal tool to help analyze when each update to the VOLCAT/TCDB was made. Once the SMF data is saved please open a support-call with IBM for them to analyze the data for the volume impacted.
