External commands no longer working: LISA does not know how to launch an external process for the identified OS: Windows Server 2016

Issue/Introduction

 

All of a sudden "Execute External Command" has stopped working on Windows Server 2016 machine.

In tracking through the Simulator logs, I found this:

• WARN com.itko.lisa.test.CommandLineExecNode - LISA does not know how to launch an external process for the identified OS: Windows Server 2016

All supported DevTest releases.

Resolution

 

As per customer:

We discovered after a recent upgrade, that lisa requires test.cmde.Windows.Server.2016.shell=cmd /c to be set as a global property.
