Issue/Introduction

We are not able to add AWS nodes in existing production cluster (primary site- OVA appliances). In the cluster configuration after selecting "Subscribe to active cluster"  we are getting below error:

PAM-CMN-1582: The hardware platform of the cluster (onpremises), does not match the hardware platform of this node (aws).

Environment

Release : 3.3 and higher

Component : PRIVILEGED ACCESS MANAGEMENT

Cause

Starting in CA PAM 3.3.x and higher we do allow inserting new nodes into a running cluster and additionally adding a new secondary site but you cannot read the configuration from a node that does does share the same hardware configuration.

Resolution

You need to read the configuration from a member of a site with the same hardware configuration as the node you are adding.. If you do not already have a site with the same hardware configuration you need to follow the steps to "add" a new site to the existing cluster which can be done from the primary site cluster configuration (see "Add a Cluster Site" in the current online documentation).
