How to change the default FDM masking logs for jobs executed from TDM Portal

Issue/Introduction

We would like to know how to change the default log location for masking jobs run from the TDM Portal. Currently, the FDM Masking Logs are being written to the default location:

'C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Grid-Tools\FastDataMasker\logs'.

We would like to change the location to: 

'E:\ARCHIVES\CA\FastDataMasker\logs'.

If you would like to set a new location for the masking job log in TDM Portal, you can enable the LOGDIR masking option in FDM by making the following change:

  1. Open a Windows File Explorer, and navigate to the FDM Installation directory. By default, this is C:\Program Files\Grid-Tools\FastDataMasker\config.xml
  2. In a Text Editor of your choice, locate the <name>LOGDIR</name> tag 
  3. Change <hidden>true<hidden> to <hidden>false</hidden>
  4. Save the changes to the file
  5. Restart the CA Test Data Manager Portal service

Or upgrade your Fast Data Manager installation to FastDataManager-4.9.143.0 or greater. After upgrading FDM, you will still need to restart the CA Test Data Manager Portal service, since the config.xml is read by the Portal service at startup. In the newer FDM release, this masking option is enabled by default.

 

With the change implemented you will see the LOGDIR option in the masking settings, in Portal, and users can define where the logs will be written when configuring the masking job. If the option is blank, the default location will be used.
