Issue/Introduction

Current: "Is it possible to recover or change the VAPP 'config' user's password if it is lost or forgotten?" New: "This article addresses the procedure for recovering or resetting the 'config' user password within the VAPP Identity Suite.

Please note that the 'config' user password is not recoverable once lost."

Environment

VAPP Identity Suite: all versions.

Resolution

Current: "There is no mechanism to recover the config user's password if that password has been lost. The only option is to redeploy the VAPP from the OVA. The deployed products will continue to work for the time being, but you will be unable to stop, start, patch, or otherwise administer the environment." New: "There is no mechanism to recover a lost 'config' user password. To restore administrative access, you must redeploy the VAPP from the original OVA file.

  1. Redeploy the VAPP environment using the source OVA file.
  2. Ensure you document the new 'config' password securely. Note: While currently deployed products will remain functional, you will lose the ability to stop, start, patch, or administer the environment until the VAPP is redeployed."
