Issue/Introduction

Still seeing the "AN EXCESSIVE RATE OF DEVICE INTERFACE RECONFIGURATIONS" alarm after disabling automatic interface reconfigurations as discussed in the "Excessive model re-configurations can cause CA Spectrum performance issues" knowledge article.

Environment

Release : 10.3.2 and greater

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

New functionality was added in Spectrum 10.3.2 for handling the excessive interface reconfigurations. It will disable the automatic reconfigurations when an excessive event is logged and then re-enable it automatically after 1 hour.

Resolution

This is configurable in the Self Health Monitoring subview from the VNM model.

1. Log into OneClick as an ADMIN user

2. Find and select the VNM model

3. Click on the Information tab in the Component Detail panel

4. Find and expand the Self Health Monitoring subview

To disable permanently, set the "Handle Excessive Interface Reconfigurations" to No and then make sure the "Automatically Reconfigure Interfaces" parameter in the Reconfiguration subview of the device model is also set to No.

You can also set the age time for the excessive interface reconfiguration in the Self Health Monitoring subview of the VNM model.

Additional Information

The default setting in 10.4 and above is True.  If you set the Reconfiguration setting to no (attribute If_IsAutoCnfgActive 0x11dd4) the Self Health Monitoring functionality will change this back to True.

Please reference the "Self Health Monitoring" section of the documentation for more information.
