Issue/Introduction

Regarding the 'Use Case: Implement Data Pervasive Encryption with CA Top Secret' at the following link:

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-mainframe-software/security/ca-top-secret-for-z-os/16-0/using/protecting-resources/data-set-protection/use-case-implement-pervasive-encryption-for-a-data-set.html

Is there any recommendation or suggestion to encrypt existing datasets rather than just new datasets? IBM may have a product called 'IBM z/OS Data Set Mobility Facility' to deal with conversion of existing unencrypted datasets. Does Top Secret have an option or utility to convert existing unencrypted datasets to become encrypted?

Environment

Release : 16.0

Component : CA Top Secret for z/OS

Resolution

TSS does not have a utility to do this. To encrypt an existing dataset, the records need to be read and rewritten.
