CA Privileged Access Manager - Server Control (PAMSC)

Issue/Introduction

During the installation of PAMSC_DE477777-14.10.20.25-WINDOWS-ISO, one warning message is flashed across the screen.

Warning:: The resource file for publisher CA-PAMSC-AuthorizationEngine was not found or could not be opened.

resourceFileName: %systemroot%\system32\ACEvtRes.dll

It is verified on the host and indeed this file is located in C:\system32\ACEvtRes.dll

Question:

How can we fix this issue?

Can this warning message be ignored?

Does this have any impact on the working of the product?

Environment

Release: 14.1 (PAMSC_DE477777-14.10.20.25-WINDOWS-ISO)

Component: PAM SERVER CONTROL ENDPOINT WINDOWS

OS: Windows 2016 Std Edition.

Cause

The cause of the warning message is because the installation of the event log manifest is failed. This registration is required to route PAMSC audit events to the Windows event log channel. This feature is supported on Windows 2008 only, https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/identity-security/privileged-access-manager-server-control/14-1/administrating/endpoint-administration-for-windows/view-audit-event-logs.html

This feature is not available on Windows 2016.

Resolution

The warning message problem will be fixed in the next release. The fix for this issue will be in the installation process so that there will no registration of event log manifest on Windows 2016 machines, as this is not required in Windows 2016.

The warning message does not have any negative impact on the working.
