CA Application Performance Management Agent (APM / Wily / Introscope)

We installed APM 10.7 SP3 on all APM nodes including the Postgres DB node. We also switched to OpenJDK. Everything seems to be working except for the Experience Cards show "No traffic". We do see traces and metrics in WebView.

Release : 10.7.0

Component : APMISP

Install HOTFIX APM10.7.0HF77_cumulative

We suggest the following to help improve the EM performance, control the transaction traces data and APM Team Center data.

Step A:

Run the sqlTools7.jar utility to clean up APMDB. We would suggest keeping last week of data.

Before running this sqlTools7.jar utility, make sure that you have all Enterprise Managers (MOM and Collectors) and webview stopped.

Also, you make a backup of APNDB, in case APMDB becomes corrupt, so that you can restore APMDB.

The sqlTools7.jar is included in the attached zip file.

Review the following Tech Doc: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=16443 (step 6).

Step B:

Do full vacuum and reindexing of all APMDB tables.

Review the following Tech Doc: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=48617 (step 1 and 2).

Step C:

run the IndexRebuilder on collectors.

Stop Webview, MOM EM, and all collectors.

Backup /opt/Introscope10.7.0.45/traces before running this tool.

Delete all logs files at /logs folder on Webview, MOM EM, and all collectors.

Run IndexRebuilder on collectors

./IndexRebuilder.sh /opt/Introscope10.7.0.45/traces

Step D:

Adjust/set the following properties on all Enterprise Managers (MOM and Collectors).

In file apm-events-thresholds-config.xml

set the value to 50 (default is 1000).

Step E:

Adjust/set the following properties on all Enterprise Managers (MOM and Collectors).

In file IntroscopeEnterpriseManager.properties

If Differential Analysis is not used, then disable auto trace.
Setting the following property to 0 will disable the Differential Analysis/auto trace.

(only on MOM following 4 properties)
introscope.apm.data.preserving.time=20 DAYS
introscope.apm.alert.preserving.time=7 DAYS
introscope.apm.data.obsolete.time=19 DAYS

These steps can be broken down into three parts (step A and B, step C and D, and step E).
