CA Automic Service Orchestration - Automation Engine

Issue/Introduction

Do I need to install CDA (Continuous Delivery Automation)/ AWA Release Automation to use Infrastructure Manager ?

Cause

Infrastructure Manager (IM) is a standalone component that exposes a REST API and wraps Terraform. IM can be used by Automic Automation (ASO) but only by calling its REST API, for CDA, IM is managed via the CDA perspective.

Here we state

Automic Automation Users:

When you install and configure Infrastructure Manager in Automic Automation, you have full access to its underlying REST API. You can call the endpoints of that REST API to utilize the Infrastructure Manager provisioning functionality in your service orchestration Workflows.

To facilitate calling the IM REST API, we have also created an Action Pack https://marketplace.automic.com/marketplace/browse/infrastructure-manager-action-pack

Also, the documentation provides example scenarios for CDA and AA users.

Environment

Release : 12.3

Component : AUTOMATION ENGINE

Resolution

Customers do not have to install CDA as IM can be used directly from AWA, be it without UI.
