Steps to set up FACSTOR(YES) in Top Secret via TSO.
Top Secret r16.0
After this has been completed, you will no longer need to update FACILITY definitions in the Startup Parmfile for Top Secret when making changes to facility definitions or when adding new facility definitions. Those will all be done via TSS MODIFY commands once FACSTOR(YES) has been implemented.
NOTE: ****Throughout this entire process, remain logged onto TSO **** with your SCA account.
1. Issue TSS MODIFY(FACILITY(ALL)) and note the total number of facilities. You will need to refer to that number again in Step 6.
2. Add FACSTOR(YES) to the Top Secret Parmfile used by the Top Secret Started task procedure. Once you set FACSTOR(YES) then go to step 2.
2. Recycle TSS and watch when TSS restarts for the following message in the system log:
TSS9620I FACILITY OPTIONS HARDENED TO SECURITY FILE
A. Issue MVS Command: P TSS
B. Reply with “T”.
C. Once TSS is shutdown, then restart by issuing MVS Command: S TSS
D. Watch for system console message TSS9620I during TSS Startup.
3. Create a backup of the TSS startup Parm file, it is best to create a copy of the dataset and place the date within the backup dataset name. An example would be SYS3.TSS.PARMLIB.D011421 where the backup dataset is created on Jan 14 2021.
4. Edit the TSS startup Parmfile and remove all FACILITY Definitions as they are no longer used since all are defined within the security database. *ENSURE* you are only removing the FACILITY definitions and not any of the TSS Control options.
5. Recycle TSS one more time. This time when TSS restarts you will see the message: TSS9621I FACILITY OPTIONS LOADED FROM SECURITY FILE
A. Issue MVS Command: P TSS
B. Reply with “T”.
C. Once TSS is shutdown, then restart by issuing MVS Command: S TSS
D. Watch for system console message TSS9621I during TSS Startup.
6. Issue TSS MODIFY(FAC(ALL)) and make sure the number of FACILITIES Listed is the same as the number listed in Step #1.
