Issue/Introduction

A problem is preventing job and/or started tasks output from being visible on the LISTJOBS and JOBSUM panels. When viewing data, the customer receives a

z/OS Supported Versions for SYSVIEW releases:

• 16.0
• 15.0

Cause

Error in the profile setup

Resolution

For jobs not showing on the display, verify the "Variable Length Mask Character" (VLMASKCHAR) value:

• From MENU, issue "PROFILE"
• select "GENERAL"
• select "MISCELLANEOUS"
• scroll down until the "Variable Length Mask Character" (VLMASKCHAR) field is visible.
  • If it is something other than '*' (which is okay), then that value will need to be updated here.
  • Be sure to save the profile

When testing the new filter character, a profile definition may encounter an error. If this happens:

• Rename the current profile definition in use to a new name to preserve it, and create a new one
• Log out and back into SYSVIEW 

Additional Information

To save this value permanently, issue the commands below. For this example, we'll be using the profile 'DEFAULT':

• Issue "PROFILE CHANGE DEFAULT"
• Select the "General" option
• Select the "Miscellaneous" section
• Issue 'F VLMASKCHAR' and alter the value to match what you defined previously
• Issue "PROFILE SAVE"
