Can CA Datacom BACKUP tapes be copied with non-Datacom utilities?

Issue/Introduction

Backups of CA Datacom files are created with DBUTLTY BACKUP function and going to virtual tapes.

Can these tapes be copied with non-Datacom utilities?

Resolution

CA Datacom backup tapes are just normal sequential files so any non-Datacom utility can be used to copy them.

Each backup file being copied must still remain as separate files. Backup files cannot be concatenated together.
