Issue/Introduction

When adding Containers to a Global Collection in Spectrum the devices within the container are not populating correctly.

Environment

Release : ALL

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Resolution

  • Adding the Container to the Global Collection isn't a valid mechanism to add the devices contained within the container.  
  • Even if the devices displayed under the Container within the CG no actions performed against the CG would propagate down to the devices.
  • The best way around this is to use the TopologyModelNameString attribute for the devices as this value will equal the container it is placed under.  
  • A device can only be placed in one container so if you get the value from a device it will be applicable to all the devices within that container.
