CA Test Data Manager (Data Finder / Grid Tools)

Issue/Introduction

I'm running GT Datamaker 4.9.0.126 and connecting to a Sybase ASE 15.7 data source. The initial connection to the data source is fine, as is running the interactive Data Profiler in Datamaker. However when running the Data Profiler bat file, the connection fails, indicating the driver cannot be found. We've downloaded the jconn4.jar for Sybase, and placed the driver in the <Datmaker Install Directory>\lib path, but we still see the same error.

Environment

Release : 4.9

Component : CA Test Data Manager

Resolution

There was a problem with the JDBC in Datamaker. Engineering has released a new TDM Portal that now supports Sybase data profiling. Please contact Support and request a copy of TDMWeb-4.9.270.0 or greater.

To apply the patch:

  1. Make a backup copy of the TDM Portal Install directory
  2. Stop the 'CA Test Data Manager Portal' service
  3. Stop the 'OrientDB' service
  4. Unzip the contents of the patch into a directory of your choice
  5. Run the TDM portal installer as 'Admin'

You will also need to install the ASE16.0.4 SDK, which contains the recommended jar files required by TDM Portal for supporting Sybase:

ASE16.0.4\jConnect-16_0\classes

    • cryptoj.jar
    • cryptojce.jar
    • cryptojcommon.jar
    • jconn4.jar
    • jTDS3.jar

These jar files need to be copied and placed in the %ProgramFiles%\CA\CA Test Data Manager Portal\tomcat\jdbc-drivers directory. Once the files have been copied over, the CA Test Data Manager Portal service needs to be stopped and restarted for the driver to be picked up by Portal.
