Issue/Introduction

Identity Governance does not include an out-of-the-box mechanism for scheduling automated cleanup of the IG_WPDS database. Database maintenance, including the execution of custom scripts for clearing data, must be handled at the operating system level or through external scheduling utilities. This article outlines the recommended approach for managing these tasks.

Environment

Identity Governance 14.x

Cause

Out-of-the-box functionality in Identity Governance does not support scheduled database maintenance activities, such as automated cleanup of the IG_WPDS database.

Resolution

Because automated cleanup is not supported natively, administrators must configure custom scheduling outside of the application.

  1. Develop or verify your custom cleanup script (e.g., an SBT or PDI script).
  2. For Windows environments, utilize the Windows Task Scheduler to execute the script on your preferred monthly cadence.
  3. For Linux environments, utilize the cron daemon.
  4. Work with your local Linux administrator to configure a cron job that points to your specific script.
