TPX - Session Management Vman Session Management for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

The TPX Virtual Terminal for a specific ACB for a user was not reserved. Another user had signed onto to the ACB that was reserved for this user.

USER1 specifies an ACB mask of V09GR and KeepACB is Y. This user received a message stating that no virtual terminals were available.

USER2 had a session definition with the ACB mask of V09-- and KeepACB of N.

In the SMRT definition, Reserve ACB's was set to Y at startup.

Why did this happen?

Environment

Release : 5.4

Component : CA-TPX for OS/390

Cause

The issue is with the ACB mask of V09-- for USER2. The ACB is reserved when the user signs onto that application. USER2 logged on before USER1 taking ACB V09GR.

Resolution

Make the ACB Mask field more granular instead of using V09-- use for example V09ZZ.

KeepACB specifies whether the virtual terminal allocated for this application session should be reserved for this session after the session has ended.
If Y is specified the virtual terminal is reserved for the application session until TPX is stopped.

These fields are located are located at the Session Options in either the User Maintenance Level or the Profile Maintenance Level.
