Issue/Introduction

Is the DeployAnywhere drivers DB retained during an upgrade? Is this copied somewhere as backup?

It was noticed that after upgrading Deployment Solution (DS), the DeployAnywhere drivers DB had reverted back to the out-of-box drivers and the imported drivers were no longer there.

Environment

DS 8.x

Cause

If you don't see the drivers after an upgrade it is likely that all drivers are still in DriversDB. The command to update the drivers.manifest.txt might have failed for some reason and it is:

DriverManager64.exe  /list /ddb="<path to>\Altiris\Deployment\DriversDB"

Resolution

Starting in DS 8.5 RU4, the drivers backup shouldn't be needed as multiple 'delete actions' are now disabled during the upgrade. However, a drivers backup is still being created at ...\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\DriversDB_dsbkup.

You can copy all the directories and driver manifest test files from DriverDB_dsbackup to DriversDB, refresh the SMP Console and then check if they are back.
