Issue/Introduction

Running older unsupported r3.5 release and need to upgrade to the latest r20.2.x release.

Environment

Release : 3.5

Component : IM Reporting / Admin / Configuration

Resolution

A: DA, DC's, and PC go direct to r20.2.x
B: The Data Repository upgrade from r3.5 to r20.2.x requires two upgrade cycles.

1. First, we upgrade to the Vertica release r9.0.1-7 used by the PM r3.6.x releases.
2. Lastly, we upgrade to the Vertica release r9.1.1-5 used by the PM r20.2.x releases.

When the Data Aggregator r20.2.x Install media is first extracted we should find the following files:

• 3.6_installDR.bin which is used to upgrade to the Vertica release r9.0.1-7 used by the PM r3.6.x releases.
• installDR.bin which is used to upgrade to the Vertica release r9.1.1-5 used by the PM r20.2.x releases.

High-level steps:

1. Stop Data Aggregator
2. Upgrade Vertica system using 3.6_installDR.bin
3. Upgrade Vertica system using installDR.bin (r20.2.x version)
4. Upgrade Performance Center
5. Upgrade Data Aggregator
6. Upgrade Data Collector(s)

Additional Information

As of the writing of this article, the latest current release is r20.2.6.
