Scenario 1
This scenario has these two models in the z/OS host encyclopedia (HE) and both are at the 9.2.A6 schema:
- CAGEN-STM MODEL 1
- CAGEN-STM MODEL 1 BACKUP
CAGEN-STM MODEL 1 was then converted using the Model Management option "11. Model conversion utilities". MODEL 1 is the model being referred to as the 8.6 model. MODEL 1 BACKUP is the model being referred to as the 8.5 model. When all objects are compared between the two models the only difference was the "Subject Area (root)" as shown below.

Question #1: Is this what someone would expected to see. Is this a correct assumption?
Scenario 2
This scenario has these two models in the z/OS host encyclopedia (HE) and both are at the 9.2.A6 schema and they are named:
- CAGEN-STM MODEL 1
- CAGEN-STM MODEL TWO
o CAGEN-STM MODEL 1 was then converted using the Model Management option "11. Model conversion utilities". MODEL 1 is the model being referred to as the 8.6 model. MODEL TWO is the model being referred to as the 8.5 model.
o AB READ_EACH_ANIMAL was successfully migrated from MODEL 1 to MODEL TWO.
o AB CREATE_FARM was successfully migrated from MODEL TWO to MODEL 1.
Question #2: Are there any issues migrating objects between two 9.2.A6 schema models one of which was run thru the 8.6 HE model conversion utility and the other was not run thru the conversion utility?
Release : 8.6
Component : CA Gen Host Encyclopedia
RESOLUTION(1): Yes, every model has a ROOT Subject Area with the model name. For example, if you do TSO %TIEWENCY (Walkency), the first object listed is PCROOT.
Enter the following:
Model name . . . . _________
Object . . . . . . PCROOT__
RESOLUTION(2): No as long as migration is run using the Gen 8.6 software. Not true if using Gen 8.5 software. Examples would be new features introduced in Gen 8.6 like Call External WSDL, TIMESTAMPDATETIME, and DSNULI. Objects used for these features can be migrated to the 8.5 unconverted model but can only be processed with the 8.6 software.
