Issue/Introduction
An API call to VIP User Services SetTemporaryPasswordRequest for SMS or Voice delivery results in response 6005: Internal Error
Cause
Check the format of the phone number entered.
Resolution
The phone or mobile device number to which VIP User Services should deliver the security code must range from 5 to 20 digits. Any appended extension must begin with lower-case "x", followed by any combination of the characters * . , # and digits 0 to 9 without any spaces.
Include the country code (1 for US numbers). For example:
- US: 16505551212
- Singapore: 6592123456
Example: 14885554444,212
- , (comma) Creates a short delay of approximately 2 seconds
Example: 14885554444.212
- . (period) Creates a longer delay of approximately 5 seconds
Example: 14885554444*212
- * (star) Used by some phone systems to access an extension. Check with your provider.
Example: 14885554444#212
- # (pound or hash) Used by some phone systems to access an extension. Check with your provider.
