Display of an ASCII file in CA Endevor is unreadable

Issue/Introduction

After adding an ASCII file to Endevor and browsing it in Endevor, it is all gibberish:

How can an ASCII element be added to Endevor so it is readable?

Release : 18.0   18.1

Component : CA Endevor Software Change Manager

Cause

Endevor does not perform an ASCII to EBCDIC conversion of files when adding the file to Endevor. 

Resolution

If viewing the file using    "3.17 Udlist      Print or display (to process) z/OS UNIX directory list"  requires using the "VA - View an ASCII file" command to make the file legible, then in Endevor use the following commands when browsing the ASCII file:

         SOURCE ASCII;LF

 

The SOURCE ASCII command performs the same conversion as the VA command

The LF  command breaks the single long continuous line stored in Endevor into individual lines.
