Issue/Introduction

I know that MIPS usage is an antiquated measurement.  But, how do I calculate total MIPS used by a Datacom MUF region for a specific time period, like 1 day or 1 week?

Is this information in the shutdown stats, or perhaps under SYSVIEW? Is this something that can be pulled out of accounting records or SMF?

Environment

Component : CA DATACOM/DB

Resolution

MIPS is not a measurement that is provided within the CA Datacom software, and is a function of z/OS resource reporting. There are a couple options to help determine usage:

1. From CA Datacom reports like the EOJ report or AutoInfo, you can get CPU consumption time for the GCPU and for zIIP, but there is nothing directly from the MUF to give you MIPS info.

2. For your z/OS measurement perspective, you would need to use tools like CA SYSVIEW, CA Mainframe Application Tuner, or CA MICS to provide details for z/OS resource usage for CA Datacom.

I hope this will give you some direction for finding out this usage detail.
