Issue/Introduction

We noticed that Java variables configured on robots intermittently disappear/removed from the robot.cfg. This is seen on any type of Linux servers.

When the Java variables are removed, probes that require the Java variables fail to start and report the following error in their log,

Controller: Probe 'X' FAILED to start (command = /opt/nimsoft/probes/../../../..//bin/java) does not exist or is unreachable

Environment

Release : 9.20, 20.1, 20.3

Component : UIM - ROBOT

Cause

This is seen when an external tools to UIM , such as Puppet Agent, that removes new settings added to the robot.cfg.

Resolution

Review applications installed on suspect systems, such as "Puppet Agent", that monitors server *.cfg files and removes newly configured settings.
