How to connect to SMG with WinSCP

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to connect to SMG using WinSCP the connection timesout\ fails.  What steps are required to connect to Symantec Mail Gateway using WinSCP?

Release : 10.7.x

Resolution

To connect using WinSCP follow the steps below:

 

1. Open Putty session
2. Log in as Admin
3. Create a support account using the following command: set-support
4. Open WinSCP
5. login with username "Support"
6. Enter the password for the support account.

Additional Information

Do not setup this user account unless it is required for this specific purpose.  We also recommend setting a strong password.
